The Hidden Strength: My Athletic Past and the Race That Still Fuels Me
Long before I became a writer and digital content creator, I carried a different kind of strength inside me.
Every individual is born with a unique reservoir of potential, a specific gift designed by a higher power to be revealed at just the right moment. Often, these gifts manifest early in our physical lives before transforming into our ultimate spiritual callings. For me, that early revelation didn't happen at a desk or through a computer screen; it happened on the hot, red dirt of a running track, where the wind whipped past my ears and my feet barely touched the earth.
The Race in Maseno (2004)
In 2004, at 17 years old, I traveled from Kerugoya in Central Kenya to Maseno in Nyanza Province for a national school sports challenge. The atmosphere was electric, filled with the roaring cheers of student crowds, the sharp blasts of officials' whistles, and the intense determination of the finest young athletes from across the country. During the 4 \times 100\text{-meter} relay race, something unforgettable happened.
I remember standing in my zone, my heart hammering against my ribs as I watched my teammate close the distance down the backstretch. As soon as the baton touched my hand, I ran with explosive speed and raw determination. I moved so fast across the track that people watching were shocked. The world around me became a blur of colors. In my silent world, the physical sensation of speed was absolute—a pure, unadulterated current of energy driving me forward. One of my former teachers later said I ran "like a flash of lightning." My performance surprised everyone that day, leaving a permanent mark on my own understanding of what I was capable of achieving.
A Quiet Gift Kept Hidden
Even though I had this athletic gift, I remained quiet and shy. I never chased attention or fame. While other sprinters celebrated loudly, I preferred to stay humble and keep my talent private. At the time, I didn’t fully understand that the gifts we hide in our youth can later become part of a much bigger purpose.
That "cheetah speed" wasn't given to me just to win a school medal or to earn the temporary applause of a crowd. It was an early physical sign of an internal engine—a divine preparation for the long-distance spiritual race I would be called to run decades later. God was building an unshakeable discipline within my body and mind, teaching me how to focus entirely on a finish line, even when the pressure around me was immense.
From the Track to the Digital World
Years later, I realized that the discipline, focus, and explosive energy I used on that running track in Maseno never disappeared—it simply transformed. The physical speed of my youth found a new home in my fingers, my mind, and my creative spirit. Today, instead of running 100\text{-meter} sprints, I pour that same "cheetah speed" into writing, storytelling, blogging, and building my digital platforms.
The endurance I developed as a young athlete now helps me persist through the challenges of content creation, consistent publishing, and growing an audience from Nairobi. Crafting articles, publishing books, and reaching out to global communities requires the exact same stamina as maintaining a full sprint down the homestretch. Every piece of content I produce is a stride forward in a brand-new, spiritual race to share hope, light, and divine truth with millions of people across the world.
Everyone Has Hidden Strength
Life has taught me that every person carries hidden strength within them. Some discover it through sports, others through art, business, faith, music, or creativity. The key is to keep growing and believing in your own unique journey. Your current circumstances or past victories are never accidental; they are training grounds for the massive destiny layout ahead of you.
Sometimes the talents we don’t show in our youth become the very foundation of our calling later in life. If you feel like your gifts are hidden, dormant, or unrecognized right now, do not lose heart. The Creator of the universe is simply preserving your strength, sharpening your focus, and waiting for the perfect milestone moment to pass you the baton. When that moment comes, you will break forward with a power that will amaze everyone around you.
