From Kerugoya to Nairobi: My Complete Faith Journey So Far.

Introduction

My faith journey did not begin in a big city or a grand church. It started in the quiet town of Kerugoya in Central Kenya. As a deaf and non-verbal boy growing up in a hearing world, I faced many challenges. But God used every step — from the running tracks of Maseno to the spiritual encounters in Nairobi — to shape me into who I am today.

This is my complete story so far: from a shy young athlete to a writer and digital storyteller carrying a divine purpose.

Early Years in Kerugoya: The Foundation

I was born into a simple family in Kerugoya. Life was not always easy. Being deaf meant I communicated differently from those around me. I learned early that silence could be both a burden and a blessing.

In 2004, at 17 years old, I traveled to Maseno for a national school sports event. During the 4×100m relay, I ran with such speed that my teacher said I moved like a flash of lightning. That moment taught me discipline and focus — qualities that would later become essential in my spiritual life.

Even then, I felt there was something more. I had questions about God and my purpose that no one around me could fully answer.

School for the Deaf in Nyeri: Finding My Voice

After my early years in Kerugoya, I joined Rev. Muhoro Secondary School for the Deaf in Nyeri. This period was transformative. For the first time, I was surrounded by other deaf students who understood my world.

In 2006, one of our American teachers met Senator Barack Obama during his visit to Kenya. She told him about our school, and he wrote us a personal letter with a signed photo. Reading his encouraging words gave me hope. It showed me that even from far away, leaders could care about young people like us.

It was during these school years that I began to seek God more seriously. I started reading the Bible and praying in my own way. My deafness pushed me to develop a deeper inner life.

The 2012 Turning Point: My Near-Death Experience

Everything changed in 2012. While living in Nairobi, I had a powerful near-death experience that took me into the spiritual realm. I saw light, felt overwhelming peace, and received a clear message that my life had a greater purpose.

Coming back from that encounter, I knew I could not live the same way. My silence was no longer a limitation — it was a gift that allowed me to hear God’s voice more clearly. This experience became the foundation of my testimony and the reason I started writing.

Nairobi Life: From Survival to Purpose

Moving to Nairobi opened a new chapter. The city is full of energy, opportunities, and challenges. As a deaf young man trying to find his way, I faced moments of loneliness, financial struggles, and doubt. But God was faithful through it all.

In Nairobi, I began to write more seriously. What started as private journal entries slowly turned into blog posts and eventually books. My first major work, “My Near Death Experience: A Spiritual Journey”, was born from the 2012 vision. Publishing through Amazon KDP allowed my story to reach readers across the world.

Writing became my voice. Even though I am non-verbal, my words travel across borders. I also grew my presence on TikTok, building a community that finds encouragement in my faith stories.

Current Purpose: Running a Spiritual Race

Today, I understand that my entire journey — from the running track in Maseno, to the school for the deaf, to the spiritual encounters in Nairobi — was preparation for this moment.

My purpose is clear: to share hope, faith, and the reality of God’s love with others, especially those who feel limited or silenced by their circumstances. Whether through blogging, writing books, or creating content, I want to be a light in Kenya and beyond.

Being deaf has taught me empathy. My spiritual experiences have given me boldness. And my faith keeps me humble.

Conclusion

From Kerugoya to Nairobi, God has been writing a beautiful story. My deafness, my silence, my challenges, and my victories are all part of His plan. If you are reading this and feeling limited, remember: God specializes in using what the world calls weakness to display His strength.

Keep trusting. Keep walking. Your journey is not over — it is only beginning.
